Urban Dance Culture Takes New Millennium by Storm!
Urban dance culture has taken the new millennium by storm and Hip Hop and Break Dance classes have never been so in demand. At the McMaster University Centre for Dance, the studio can hardly keep up with the growing number of students and community members who want to learn these street-wise forms of fresh and funky dance. It offers 5 hip hop and 3 break dance classes in both beginner and intermediate levels, led by local teaching talent. The Centre for Dance recently hosted its first annual McMaster Urban Dance Competition. This unprecedented day long event featured both workshops and competitions in break dance and hip hop and exhibited Ontario's growing urban dance following. Members of the general public were encouraged to participate dance workshops featuring break dance, hip hop and jazz. The competition included special performances by the McMaster Dancers, the McMaster Urban Dance Company, Stylordz and the Shebang all-female break dance crew from Toronto. Taylor K from Kiss 92 FM made an appearance, along with other professional judges, scouts and talent agents such as Diana Uribe from the Be Discovered Worldwide Talent Agency. Dancescape.TV was proud to be a sponsor of this event.
